Another Milestone for the Biomethane Infrastructure in Zeitz

About nine months ago, we reported on the groundbreaking ceremony for the BioEnergyHub Zeitz, a project that will bring about a sustainable transformation of the regional energy supply. With the installation of the biogas feed-in system by REDINET Burgenland GmbH, an essential prerequisite has now been met for feeding the biomethane produced at the BioEnergyHub into the regional gas grid in the future.

Thanks to a modular design and a high degree of prefabrication, on-site installation work can be carried out efficiently, significantly shortening the construction time. With an unusual module, the feed-in plant fits seamlessly into the site’s sustainable concept: waste heat is captured and used to power the biogas plant in the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park.

With a feed-in capacity of up to 2,800 standard cubic meters per hour, the plant will make an important contribution to the use of renewable gases in the region in the future. Through the generation of renewable energy, biomethane supports industrial sites and municipalities on their path to decarbonization.

Veit Osterberg, Managing Director of REDINET Burgenland GmbH, told the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung: “With the successful installation of the prefabricated containers near Zeitz, the technical foundation has been laid. We are making green gas flexibly available, driving the heat transition forward, and strengthening the independence of the local energy supply right at one of the region’s most important industrial sites.”
