Review of the year 2025

An intensive and successful year 2025 lies behind us – marked by exciting projects, new collaborations, technical milestones and valuable developments within our team. We would like to take a look at the most important events that have defined our year.

Successful start-ups worldwide

Milestone for Poland: First biomethane plant connected to the grid

In September, we were able to successfully connect the first Polish biomethane plant to the gas network of Polska Spółka Gazownictwa in Strzelin. With a capacity of 45 megawatts and the use of sugar beet pulp, the plant closes the production cycle of the local sugar factory – an important step towards the decarbonization of the Polish energy system. [...]

Progress in the USA

In the USA, there are seven biomethane plants are currently in the start-up phase – planned with a raw gas output of over 5,000 Nm³/h. One plant is already running, four are about to go into start-up phase, and two will follow at the end of the year. All plants use only cattle manure – a strong sign of the circular economy, emission reduction and efficient energy use through integrated heat recovery. [...]

New projects won

HyTechHafen Rostock – 100 MW electrolysis

One highlight: our participation in the IPCEI-funded project "HyTechHafen Rostock". A 100MW electrolysis plant for the climate-neutral production of green hydrogen is being built here. We are taking over the approval planning on behalf of the general planner Dornier Power and Heat GmbH – a project that strengthens security of supply and reduces energy imports.   [...]

Project Milestones

Zeitz – Biomethane for sugar production

For the Südzucker Group, we are supporting the planning and implementation of a new large-scale plant that ferments sugar beet pulp into climate-neutral biomethane. The groundbreaking ceremony in October marked the start of construction - it is to be fed into the grid as early as 2026. [...] [...]

Velen – Commissioning of a future-oriented plant

In Velen, a new biomethane plant went into operation in May, the fermentation line of which was developed by us.

The plant processes around 200,000 t of input per year and is already prepared for a possible CO₂ liquefaction plant. [...]

Trade fair highlights

FEW 2025 in Omaha

Together with our US partners LYS Enterprises and Equinox, we presented our solutions at the International Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo. A special highlight: Kyle Althoff's presentation on the integration of biogas into ethanol sites – a key topic for reducing carbon intensity. [...]

Internal & Team News

We are pleased to announce two new additions to the team:

  • Dennis Bollin – Expert in planning, optimization and operation of biogas plants
  • Sanaz Wolf – Working student in the field of environmental engineering

Both strengthen our technical expertise and commitment to sustainable bioenergy.

In addition, we were able to celebrate service anniversaries and continue our annual donation commitment.
