Groundbreaking ceremony for BioEnergyHub Zeitz

On October 27, 2025, the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the BioEnergyHub took place at the Zeitz Chemical and Industrial Park in Tröglitz.

The BioEnergyHub will produce climate-neutral biomethane from sugar beet processing residues. Südzucker is thus driving forward the energy transition in Germany and making the Zeitz sugar factory less dependent on fossil fuels.

Dr. Niels Pörksen, CEO of the Südzucker Group, and Sven Schulze, Minister for Economic Affairs, Tourism, Agriculture, and Forestry of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, emphasized in their speeches the importance of the Südzucker Group's investments in sustainable energy production for the business location.

Krieg & Fischer Ingenieure GmbH is proud to be providing the planning services for the biogas plant and thus to be part of this ambitious project. Following the milestone of the groundbreaking ceremony, construction is now beginning. Krieg & Fischer will continue to accompany, coordinate, and supervise all construction phases until this complex plant is commissioned.
