On September 9, 2025, the first biomethane plant in Poland was officially connected to the Polska Spółka Gazownictwa gas grid in Strzelin.
At Krieg & Fischer Ingenieure GmbH, we are proud to have delivered the complete engineering of the anaerobic digestion plant and digestate treatment for this lighthouse project.
This large-scale biogas facility, designed for a sugar factory, produces renewable gas from sugar beet pulp and by-products — closing the production cycle and replacing coal and coke with biogas and natural gas to decarbonise production.
The project represents a key step in the factory’s energy transition and underlines our long-standing expertise in developing tailored biogas solutions for the sugar industry.
This plant marks important milestone is decarbonization of the Polish gas grid and demonstrates how biogas and biomethane can play a central role in the transformation of the energy system.
