Hydrogen - link in the energy transition

Hydrogen is mostly produced electrolytically using the power-to-gas process. Power-to-gas means producing gases through electrical energy. Electricity surpluses from renewable energies can thus be used and grid bottlenecks relieved. Synergies are efficiently exploited by linking the energy sectors of electricity, heat, mobility and industry (energy sector coupling). The storage of gas (hydrogen and methane) enables long-term energy storage. Synthetically produced methane (SNG) can be stored and transported in the natural gas grid.
