First industrial anaerobic digestion plant starts operation in Belgorod/ Russia

Krieg & Fischer Ingenieure GmbH has completed and started-up Russia‘s first and largest industrial anaerobic digestion plant in September 2012 after only 9 months of construction time. The digestion plant is able to convert 80 t of corn silage, 80 cbm of manure and 45 t of slaughterhouse wastes and other organic wastes per day into biogas. Two CHP-units with a total electric power of 2,4 MW convert this gas into 19 Mio. kWh of electricity. This is enough to provide green electricity for approx. 10.000 households. In this project KF has been the leading engineering firm for their partner and EPC-contractor BD Agro Renewables GmbH & Co. KG. Besides plant engineering KF has been responsible for the execution of construction, the supervision of the construction and the start-up on behalf of BD Agro. Belgorod’s digestion plant serves as showcase for AltEnergo, owner and operator of the plant. AltEnergo announces that they intend to build more biogas plants in this predominantly agricultural region.
